Warm Breakfasts for Cooler Days

Now that fall is here and the days are getting colder and shorter we have an opportunity to pause and re-assess some of the choices we tend to make out of habit. Just like the seasons change, so do our needs for nourishment and rest.

I usually notice that my body asks for warmer foods, an extra hour of sleep and a change in my exercise routine to slower types of movement. It may take me a few days or weeks to adapt to the new season and that’s okay.

A good way to introduce warmer foods into our diet, is to increase our intake of cooked vegetables. I love adding roasted vegetables to my salads, having a side of soup and switching my smoothie breakfast to a nutrient packed grain-free porridge made with flax meal, almond milk, chia seeds, protein powder, almond butter, coconut flakes and berries of choice.

Is a great way to start my day!
